Maharam introduces Songbird and Wool Check

Design / Life

Thirteen new products highlight Maharam’s collaborations and versatile textures across seven upholsteries, two window coverings, two wallcoverings, a privacy curtain, and an entirely hand-dyed and handwoven rug – Slope by Hella Jongerius.

An expansion of Paul Smith’s ongoing collaboration with Maharam, two new textiles and a throw blanket reinvent traditional motifs through scale and colour.

A modern take on botanical patterns, Songbird began with a series of vintage designs Smith collected at French markets that were synthesized as a large-scale hand drawing by the Maharam Design Studio.

Wool Check explores traditional applications of plaid through painterly transitions of highly specialized tones. A pure woolen construction woven in the United Kingdom, Wool Check is offered as both an upholstery and throw blanket.

2020 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Paul Smith as a company and his eighteenth year of collaboration with the Maharam Design Studio.

Roam expands Maharam’s residential upholstery offering with lofty, richly saturated boucle yarns densely woven in Belgium.

Balancing organic and architectural elements, Filter and Spire are the most recent additions to Maharam’s growing collection of wall covering.

Umbra is one of two new window coverings exploring transparency through linen-like texture.

Scroll is the latest privacy curtain application, which can also be applied to wall or window coverings.
