9th April – 1st May

COOL CHANGE CONTEMPORARY APRIL PROGRAM

Cool Change Contemporary kicks off their Djeran / April programming welcoming the first block of artists from our April – July 2021 call out.

Gallery 1: AUDIBLE EDGE FESTIVAL 2021: KATIE WEST, SIMON CHARLES, JOSTEN MYBURGH. LISTENING TO DRYANDRA WOODLAND. PRESENTED BY TONE LIST.

On Noongar Wiilman boodja in the western wheatbelt, Dryandra Woodland stands as home to endangered numbats, woylies, boodies, and mala; an island of diversity girt by wheat, canola, cattle and sheep. The sound installation Listening to Dryandra Woodland is a vast, ever-changing accumulation of conversations, field recording, music, and dyed fabrics gathered and made on many visits to the woodland in 2020.

Gallery 2: MARK DU POTIERS: YELLOW PERIL, YELLOW FEVER

This site-specific textile installation features honey drips cascading out of the ether… Suspended visions of creamy whites transpose into brilliant yellows and golds; an invitation to remember one is – and has always been – sweet enough.

Gallery 3: RYAN ANDREW LEE: WONNARUA

‘Wonnarua’ is a video-based installation work that aims to provoke discussion around themes of Indigenous ways of living in juxtaposition with Western Settler-state system’s unsustainable, damaging ways of using stolen lands.

Project Space: IVETTA SUNYOUNG KANG: PROPOSITION 1: HANDS

Proposition 1: Hands contains a single-channel video and a small handout that instructs each position of hands performed in the video that aims to transform a South Korean children’s game into a futuristic therapeutic exercise.
