If you think science can’t be sexy, you are very very mistaken.
This February, Elixir, a potent concoction of chemical balance and imbalance, new school death defying acrobatics, old school slapstick comedy and an injection of good old Aussie testosterone, will challenge perceptions and set pulses racing at the 2021 Perth Fringe Festival, in the Edith Spiegeltent in the Woodside Pleasure Garden, from January 15th to January 31st.
Elixir is a circus spectacular – only different. Uninhibited by cliché or expectation, subversive and hilarious, the production follows the story of three enthusiastic, slightly bumbling yet skilfully acrobatic scientists who attempt to create the elixir of life. The show sees the sexy scientists test their concoctions on themselves and follows the mayhem that ensues with a mesmerizing mix of dizzying acrobatics and impeccable comic timing. Audiences can expect acrobats flying five metres into the air on the teeterboard, spinning upside-down in the cyr wheel, performing one-arm handstands on wobbling canes and balancing on nothing but their heads on a swinging trapeze.
Elixir is the first show from award-winning Melbourne entertainment company Head First Acrobats; receiving international acclaim with sell-out shows, rave reviews, and picking up a slew of awards over the last few years including Best Circus and Theatre Award at Adelaide Fringe in 2018.
Along with Elixir, Head First Acrobats have proved crowd-favourites at Fringe Festivals year after year, adding the hilarious Railed to their repertoire in 2019. As a company, they are dedicated to providing world-class circus and physical theatre performance – thrilling audiences at festivals, in theatres and at corporate and street events across Australia and internationally.
Leave expectations at the door (and definitely leave the kids at home!), Elixir’s bare chests, hilarious antics and incredible high-energy acrobatic stunts will leave you breathless and wanting for more.
Head First Acrobats shows have a tendency to sell out FAST so book early to avoid disappointment!
