HOSPITALITY HEAVYWEIGHTS WELCOME CHEF CHARLIE VARGAS BACK INTO THE SNEAKERS & JEANS FAMILY

Renowned Chef Charlie Vargas has been confirmed to launch the city’s newest CBD brewery, Pirate Life Perth.

Sneakers & Jeans welcome Charlie back into the fold as he brings his forward thinking and sustainable cooking techniques to his new role of Head Chef.

Charlie Vargas is no stranger to the Sneakers & Jeans family, having led the team as Head Chef at The Flour Factory in 2019. While at The Flour Factory, Charlie focused on his ‘seasonal, local produce only’ ethos as well as securing a spot in the ‘Top 25 Casual Dining’ list at the 2019 WA Good Food Guide awards.

While originally from New York, Charlie has been an integral part of the West Australian restaurant scene since 2010, having helped design, curate and launch the menus of many iconic and award-winning WA restaurants including; New Normal Bar & Kitchen, Gordon Street Garage and Santini Bar & Grill.

His next chapter at Pirate Life Perth will see Charlie and the team challenge the expectations that surround brewery food. The menu will consist of considered dishes with a paddock-to-plate philosophy and a high-quality wine program to match. The new multi-level venue boasts a 50- person restaurant, three bars and two kitchens as well as a beer garden and private dining room.

Sneakers & Jeans CEO, Andy Freeman said, “We’re pretty pumped to have Charlie back with us here at Sneakers & Jeans. Over the coming weeks Charlie will be working across all of our kitchens, offering support to our brigades in readiness to open the two kitchens at the long-awaited brewery.”

Pirate Life Perth’s new Head Chef, Charlie Vargas is looking forward to working alongside Freeman and the Sneakers & Jeans family on their new venture.

“This next chapter is going to be really exciting and something that Perth has never seen before. Andy and the team have a wealth of experience in this space and I feel privileged to bring my own knowledge and values to this project. The WA hospitality industry is really starting to ‘grow up’ and we can’t wait to introduce another quality venue that challenges expectations of our dining market”, says Vargas.

With Charlie at the helm, we can expect sound, sustainable and clean cooking techniques, with locally sourced produce which highlight the unique flavours of Western Australia in a way that is accessible for everyone. Pirate Life Perth will be the sixth venue for the Sneakers & Jeans group and will launch this Summer in the old Sony building on Murray street.
