Established in 1998 in the United States, Design Within Reach is available for the first time in Australia through Living Edge.
Design Within Reach is a company built on the foundations of making authentic, high-quality design accessible for design savvy professionals and consumers across a comprehensive budget scope.
Rob Forbes founded the company in 1998, having moved from London back to the United States, he couldn’t easily acquire the iconic pieces of design he’d discovered and grew to love in London back home – so he built a company that would supply them. In 2014, Design Within Reach was acquired by the Herman Miller Group. DWR has 44 retail locations across the U.S. and Canada, and now a presence in Australia – for the first time ever – through Living Edge.
One of the very first brands DWR partnered with was Herman Miller – so the synergy with Living Edge is self-evident.
What has kept DWR viable and desirable in a turbulent retail environment over the past 20 years is its dedication to design both past and present. The iconic pieces of mid-century design are just as much of a focus for the company as the fresh, new, invigorating pieces coming from architects and designers that are our contemporaries today.
Namely, pieces such as the Folk Ladder Shelving system by Norm Architects, the Cove Bed by Nathan Yong and the Hew Side Table by Pat Kim come to mind. Produced exclusively by Design Within Reach For Herman Miller.
For the well informed design enthusiasts, pieces from the collection that’s produced exclusively by Design Within Reach for Herman Miller can be ordered in the Living Edge showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth and online at http://www.livingedge.com.au
